Crystal Turbo

This is a turbo version of Crystal Beast. At its nature, Crystal Beast is a combo deck, which mean it is quite prone to dead draw. Such deck can hardly compete in today's meta where Effect Veiler is needed in each deck just to nullify the threat of meta deck. The problem is, such card as Veiler has no synergy at all with the theme. Playing it means the consistency of deck is reduced since you'll draw one less combo pieces.

Anyway, this is merely for fun on DN, so here's the decklist,

3 Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus
3 Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth
3 Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger
2 Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle
2 Summoner Monk

1 Crystal Abundance
3 Ancient City - Rainbow Ruin
2 Terraforming
2 Crystal Blessing
2 Pot of Duality
3 Rare Value
3 Crystal Release
3 Crystal Tree
2 Crystal Promise
2 Crystal Beacon
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn

1 Magical Hats

If you have stumble upon my previous article on my Crystal Beast deck, you will know that I'm not a fan of Rainbow Ruin for the meta version of the deck. Rainbow Ruin need to time to set up and is something that should be a focus of the deck. In the meta version, cards such as Effect Veiler and Solemn Warning makes combo card such as Crystal Blessing and Ancient City less potent.

However, here, the goal is truly on dropping Rainbow Ruin as soon and profit a lot by using his 4th effect and mini-lock the opponent with the 3rd effect. Crystal Tree and Crystal Blessing are very good at this. The lone copy of Magical Hats can be awesome if it resolves properly too. With the 29, YES 29 , copies of spells, Summoner Monk is no-brainer. Again, this is a fun deck so we need not care about Veiler / Warning etc. Due to the tight deck space, I need to drop Crystal Promise to 2; and the focus here is less on Promise/Beacon anyway so it won't affect the deck much. With Rare Value, Duality and Terraforming, the deck can accelerate really fast.

3 Stygian Street Patrol
3 Genex Ally Birdman
3 Tour Guide from the Underworld
3 Snoww, Unlight of Dark World
1 Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World

1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Book of Moon
1 Allure of Darkness

....and this is when I'm under his Deck Devastation Virus....

3 Tour Guide from the Underworld
3 Goblin Zombie
2 Summoner Monk
2 Mystic Tomato
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Zombie Master
1 Mezuki
1 Sangan
1 Effect Veiler
1 Trance Archfiend
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness

3 Mystical Space Typhoon
3 Archfiend's Oath
3 Falling Down
2 Book of Life
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Dark Hole
1 Pot of Avarice
1 Pot of Duality

2 Call of the Haunted

3 Lavalval Chain
1 Brionac
some rank3 exceeds
some synchros etc.

---

Now here's the fun part.

Making Brionac is easy.

If I splash a copy of Convulsion of Nature here, it is possible to do a limited loop of Brionac + Oath.

For example, if I decided to play Armageddon Knight / Genex Ally Birdman , here are two starting hand that makes the loop possible,

a) Arma Knight, Convulsion, Oath

b) Tour Guide, Birdman, Convulsion, Oath

The loop requires LP cost, hence, its limitation.

But the ability to filter cards, getting the most optimal hand while setting up the graveyard for the mass horde of zombie can be game-winning on its own.

--

This is just a rough draft though - planning to fix it up on weekend.

Konami Trollin'

The March banlist is the worst banlist ever. I'm 90% quitting.

Who the hell want to play the game when you won't even get a turn to play?

The way thing goes now in TCG, you either draw one of three Maxx "C" in your deck in your very first turn, or you lose. and God knows how much Maxx "C" cost nowadays. Is it worth consider playing the game when you invest huge money but still the percentage of losing is fucking high?

On plant total annihilation - I'm clueless. I can't even fathom the joke of banning Spore. Out of the high tier deck, Plant is the one that takes a lot skill to pilot. Tengu is the only gay part of the deck, and even that is not entirely true this format - Maxx C makes it less of a threat. And then, Konami decided to leave the 3 more autopilot deck in Windfagup , Rabbit and Zector totally untouched. Formula Synchron is pointlessly Limited now that the easiest way to summon it has been made prohibited.

The consensus from some fraction of player base is that Konami made the list months ago, right when the dominant deck is Plant ; at the time which Rabbit and Mainspring hasn't made it into Higher Tier yet. What this mean is that if some sort of overpowered deck emerged later when Konami already made their decision up, said deck will not be touched and be allowed to dominate the meta for another 6 months . Konami can afford to apply such decision-making because their main priority, (which is made very obvious by the recent banlist) is to push a market for its recently-released product.

I'm off.

For the time being.

Sidedecking Exodia

3 Rescue Rabbit
3 Tour Guide From the Underworld
3 Sorcerer of the Doomed
3 The Illusory Gentleman
2 Emissary of the Afterlife
1 Sangan
1 Exodia the Forbidden One
1 Left Leg of the Forbidden One
1 Left Arm of the Forbidden One
1 Right Leg of the Forbidden One
1 Right Arm of the Forbidden One

3 One Day of Peace
3 White Elephant's Gift
2 Wonder Wand
2 Upstart Goblin
2 Creeping Darkness
1 Pot of Duality
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm

2 Call Of The Haunted
2 Limit Reverse

3 Lavalval Chain
3 Daigusto Emeral
3 Steelswarm Roach
3 Number 39: Utopia
1 Number C39: Utopia Ray
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines
1 Leviair the Sea Dragon

---

First off, these are what we're going to take off

- All 5 parts of The Forbidden One
- 2 Emissary of the Afterlife
- 3 One Day of Peace

From now on, let's focus on what we're good at. I already take out 10 cards, so it would be hard to side out any further cards. So, let's build on from what we have and build a synergy from that. Rabbit into Lavalval Chain is the main play, so we need to capitalise on that. Since I also have Creeping Darkness there (with no target post-siding), if I'm not going to take it out, I need to make sure it has another target.

Our focus is now on Lavalval Chain. Since it is easy to dump stuffs into Grave, we are going to use grave-based engine. There are two main choice here : Zombie or Plant. I am leaning with Zombie since it has more Special Summon , which is important as I need to save my Normal Summon for Rabbits and Guides.

+ 1 Zombie Master
+ 3 Goblin Zombie
+ 1 Plaguespreader Zombie

So, we're on 18 monsters slots now - let's add some more. We are playing with only 4 traps and I don't think it is necessary to include more traps. With all the hand advantage going, 2 Trags and Gorz would be my defense. These, on top of 2 Maxx "C" should be enough as a protective measure against most Tier 2 deck. We are not going to compete with those gay Tier 1 deck in the first place so why bother . On top of that, I think Lavalval Chain need more target, so a copy of Glow-Up Bulb would serve me good and allow for synchro option alongside Plague.

With all the massive revival in the deck, a Zombie Normal Monster is needed, not only as a target for Rabbit but also makes White Gift less of a dead card. So, I decided to cut out a piece of Normals each for 2 Master Kyonshee

3 WEG and 2 Wand in a Zombie deck seems out of place BUT it works consistently enough for the template Exodia build that I think it would do well here. The key here is, Rescue Rabbit also count as a target. Furthermore, Emeral, TGUs etc. helps a lot in bringing those draw power alive.

Finally, we need to change out the Extras of course.

So, here's the full final list,

3 Goblin Zombie
2 Master Kyonshee
2 Maxx 'C"
2 Tragoedia
1 Mezuki
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Zombie Master
1 Glow-Up Bulb
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness

1 Ally of Justice Catastor
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 Orient Dragon
1 Revived King Ha Des
1 Scrap Dragon
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

Exodia

Let's have some fun.

3 Exodius, the Ultimate Forbidden Lord
1 Exodia of the Forbidden One
1 Left Leg of the Forbidden One
1 Left Arm of the Forbidden One
1 Right Leg of the Forbidden One
1 Right Arm of the Forbidden One
2 Emissary of the Afterlife
3 Ancient Sorcerer
3 The Illusory Gentleman
3 Rescue Rabbit
3 Tour Guide from the Underworld
1 Sangan

3 Wonder Wand
2 White's Elephant Gift
2 Creeping Darkness
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Pot of Duality
3 One Day of Peace

2 Call of the Haunted
2 Limit Reverse

Extra Deck : Rank 4 XYZs - Lavalval Chain is compulsory

Probably need more target for reverse toolbox as alt. strategy. Dark Magician, perhaps?

Probably 2 each of A-Sorcerer and Ilusory is enough

Synchro-whatthehell-centric or whatever it is called

3 Maxx "C"
3 Gravekeeper's Spy
3 Tour Guide From the Underworld
2 Effect Veiler
1 Dandylion
1 Glow-Up Bulb
1 Lonefire Blossom
1 Spore

1 Sangan
1 Spirit Reaper
1 Thunder King Raiou
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

2 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Pot of Duality
1 Pot of Avarice
1 Dark Hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Book of Moon
1 Foolish Burial
1 Forbidden Chalice
1 Scapegoat
1 Smashing Ground

2 Fiendish Chain
2 Solemn Warning
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Dustshoot

It's heavily tech out but I play with what I'm comfortable with and it's been working very good for me.

Why no Tengu? Because with Spy I can vary my play. Another reason - on DN, Spy makes Lavalval Chain easier

Smashing Ground : universal answer to most threat

Forbidden Chalice : act as an extra Chain/Veiler, but in some circumstances, this can be preferable and I like variety

Duality : Because I have 2 slots left when making the deck. Perform very good though, gives consistency

I dislike the high monster count of typical Plant Synchro . To me, 21 is the barrier, even when including hand traps.

Hi,

I have nothing to do for the weekend so for half a day I did a simulation of Inzector vs Six Sam. If there's one thing that I learnt, Inzector have the weakest opening out of the Big 3 deck, (the other 2 being, Rabbit and Wind-Up). Six Sam can exploit this and win the game as soon as it can before being loop by Zektor's player.

2 Elder of the Six Samurai
2 Legendary Six Samurai – Kageki
3 Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan
2 Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
3 Kagemusha of the Six Samurai
1 Legendary Six Samurai – Enishi
3 Maxx “C”
1 Shien's Squire

While at first, I'm unconvinced with the Samurai deck that won YCS Mexico, after testing it for a while, it runs pretty well. Though after Smoke Signal is limited to one, the deck lose its consistency, Dojo and Asce brings the explosiveness to the table.

The real gem of the deck though, is Maxx "C". As per saying of the Guadalajara's winner; 'think of it as an Upstart Goblin'. It's in fact much better than Upstart is. If you want to play competitively this format, and most probably the upcoming format too, 'C' is a big must. At the very least, 'C' will net an even card trade; if your opponent want to persist with his play, it'll net +1 or even more. For a control deck, +1 is good of course, but for aggressive deck, +1 could mean a different between winning it right away or a delayed win. For example, here, Dojo and Asceticism are a combo card. By their own, they did little but when drawn at the same time, often Shi En , protecting a swarm of monsters is the end product. Maxx "C' helps in achieving this.

Cards with raw advantage - the most obvious example being Pot of Greed - is quiet rare and often beneficial to the player able to utilise it. Six Samurai United is another example of this, it's a card that rewards you for overextension and some even think it deserves (unfairly, imo) to be limited because of this.

Dojo and Asce aside, the deck also has a side strategy involving Enishi and Naturia Landoise. This gives you more option and helps to react accordingly depending on the given situation.

Now back to the deck, I'd made slight changes , taking off Veiler, which I think is unnecessary, and also Trap Dustshoot. Dustshoot can win the game obviously, but it can also be a dead draw. 2nd Double-Edged and a Squire are used over them. I'd also took out Hand of the Six Samurai for MST.

Six Samurai

This is going to be a last post for the time being. New semester going to start today so I would have less time for yugimonz. Anyway, in light of Six Sam winning YCS Mexico it's befitting I post a Six Sam deck, my favourite archetype.

3 Maxx "C"
3 Kagemusha of the Six Samurai
2 Elder of the Six Samurai
2 Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan
1 Legendary Six Samurai - Kageki
1 Legendary Six Samurai - Mizuho
1 The Six Samurai - Zanji
1 The Six Samurai - Yaichi
1 Hand of the Six Samurai
1 X-Saber Pashuul

3 Six Samurai United
2 Asceticism of the Six Samurai
1 Gateway of the Six
1 Shien Smoke Signal
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Monster Reborn
1 Dark Hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Book of Moon

3 Double-Edged Sword Technique
3 Fiendish Chain
2 Reinforce Truth
2 Solemn Warning
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Mirror Force

First off, why play Sams? The main advantage of playing Six Sam is, I can spam my backrow since I have access to Shi En/Naturia Beast which will protect them. Since it's very easy to summon Shi En, the deck also has a very flexible side deck option and a strong game 2 since by nature, the sided s/t will be protected by Shi En thus, the deck can optimise it's sided material like no other can.

This is essentially a toolbox Sams powered by Asceticism - Mizuho-Hand , Kizan-Zanji and of course, Elder-Kagemusha. The drawback of Elder is , it doesn't work with certain card combination. Elder + Kizan/Grandmaster is poor. Since Xyz been created however, we can take advantage of Elder's lv3. Not only lv3 works with Elder; here Reinforce Truth which is used to replace Smoke Signal, would get Kagemusha / Pashuul fast will allow for Shi En summon when paired with any lv3. In short, the deck need to focus on lv3 Sams because it's high in utility. Hand, Mizuho, Yaichi are all lv3 and the formers work with Asceticism. The deck is choke full of synergy.

Major change going into game 2 is siding out Uniteds / C's for 3 Macro Cosmos when up against Zectors . For Wind-Up matchup, Rivalry of Warlord should do the job.

---

Alternative build - Dojo Sams

Basically just replace Asceticism with Dojo. Here's the monster lineup

3 Maxx "C"
3 Kagemusha of the Six Samurai
3 Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan
1 Legendary Six Samurai - Kageki
1 Legendary Six Samurai - Mizuho
1 The Six Samurai - Zanji
1 The Six Samurai - Yaichi
1 Hand of the Six Samurai
1 X-Saber Pashuul
1 Shien's Squire

So, I just take out both Elders for a Squire and another Kizan

---

By the way, I had taken out 1 Asce and Zanji each for Shien's Footsoldier and Musakani . I miss Musakani when I'm not playing it. One of those hugely versatile card.
